Allegation By Kaunda
CV.Z. P.A. -Reuter—Copyright) LUSAKA, June 2.
President Kaunda today accused Britain of destroying Zambia's economy by forcing
it into the now defunct Rhodesian federation.
Referring to British newspaper comments which had accused him of ingratitude towards Britain, Dr. Kaunda said: “1 have not gone to Britain to beg. Rather Britain has destroyed this country economically ... all I have asked is what belongs to my country, and I will continue to demand that because it belongs to me and my people." He said membership of the federation of Southern Rhodesia, Nyasaland (now Malawi) and Northern Rhodesia (Zambia) cost Zambia £7O million.
