Situation.—A ridge of high pressure over the South Island is weakening and depressions are approaching from the Tasman Sea. Forecast:

Canterbury.—Fresh south-westerly winds; variable skies; scattered showers; colder temperatures; snow to low levels.

Marlborough.—Fresh southerly winds; cloudy and cool, with scattered areas of rain. Nelson, Buller and Westland.—Variable winds, cloudy and cool, with some rain. Outlook: clearing on the West Coast; cold and showery elsewhere.
