Auckland Wool Firmer

(N Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, May 27. Compared with* prices at the Wanganui sale on Monday, values at the Auckland wool sale today were in sellers’ favour, according to the official report.

A total of 26.586 bales of greasy wool was contained in the five catalogues submitted to auction. It was substantially a sale

of second-shear wool and second-shear oddments, with only odd lots of late-shorn full-length fleece wool and of lambs’ wool. Colour, normally bright at this time, was disappointing. After the wet growing season, much of the wool was off in colour and carried yolk stain. The oddments, in particular, were heavy yellow.

Yields of most lines, howiever, were higher and this | compensated for the colour disadvantage. Insufficient care had been taken with the preparation of many lines, and the properly

prepared lines showed to advantage. The Continent and America took most of the offering. While passings in the saleroom approximated 10 per cent of the offering, at least half of these with bids near their reserve will be sold in subsequent negotiations. Price Range The range of prices was:—
