Six-Hour Search For Rangi
By Our Rugby Reporter) HAMILTON. The search for the All Black. R. Rangi. wanted as a late replacement in the North Island team to play the South Island at Hamilton this afternoon, ended late last evening—unsuccessfully.
The original centre, I. R. Macßae, injured his leg playing in the main trial on Thursday and was declared unfit after visiting a hospital yesterday. Immediately, the North Island selectors tried to contact Rangi, who had returned to Auckland alter the trial. For more than six hours the search continued without success.
Telephone calls were made to his home, his place of work and to his friends—but no-one knew where he was. Finally, the selectors gave up the search and named T. N. Wolfe (Taranaki) in Macßae's place.
