Minor Fires
A small fire in a fume extractor in the newsroom of the Christchurch Press Company's building. Cathedral square, occupied firemen for more than an hour yesterday afternoon.
Three fire engines answered the automatic alarm signal at 3.53 p.m. Soot and metal deposits in the extractor funnel were burning and had to be cleaned out by the firemen.
An oven fire in the home of Mr L. C. Griffin, 256 Marine parade, at 10.49 a.m„ caused no damage. New Brighton firemen attended.
