£44,500 Bid Refused
“Ashley Cliffs,” Mr and Mrs C. L. Suckling’s grazing and fattening property of 998 acres at Springbank, was passed in at £44,500 at public auction yesterday.
“Ashley Cliffs" comprises downs country on the south bank of the Ashley river about 12 miles from Rangiora.
Buildings on the property include a five-bedroomed brick bungalow, three-bed-roomed weatherboard house, woolshed, haybarn, and whare. Other improvements include sheep and cattle yards.
The sale was held by Pyne, Gould, Guinness, Ltd. The auctioneer was Mr W. IL Archdall.
The opening bid was I £40,000. There were four bids lof £lOOO, and one of £5OO.
