TASMANIA VISIT
Invitation To Professor Professor I. E. Coop, professor of animal science at Lincoln College, has been invited to visit Tasmania by a group of farmers there to speak to a farmers’ conference next month. The meeting, attended by 100 to 200 of Tasmania’s most progressive farmers, will be held at Deloraine on May 6 and 7. The theme of the conference is sheep nutrition, and Professor Coop will speak on both days. He expects to speak on research in the South Island and how it is being applied, to give the Tasmanian farmers an opportunity to learn from South Island experience. The climate in the South Island was much the same as that in Tasmania, he said.
Another reason for the invitation, he said, could be the strong attachment between Tasmania and Lincoln College. In the last 15 years about 40 Tasmanian students had come to study at the college. Professor Coop will arrive in Tasmania three or four days before the conference and will visit a number of farms before the meeting. His expenses are being met by the Tasmanians.
