ROADING PLAN
Approval In Principle
The Waimairi County Council on Thursday evening approved in* principle the Christchurch Regional Planning Authority’s regional road network for 1985 as it affects the county.
It did so “without prejudice at this stage on the understanding that the plan is diagrammatic only and that the final position of roads and rbading improvements will be subject to the council’s approval in each instance.” The town planning committee reported that the authority had been cbnsulted about queries raised at a special meeting of the council, and it had submitted a further plan for the council’s consideration.
It had been emphasised that this plan was fluid and that before any concrete proposals were put forward by the authority, such proposals would require the approval of the local body concerned. “The plan therefore was not inflexible,” said the committee’s report, “and the council would not be committing itself by accepting the tentative plan at this stage, as any amendments the council might require could be submitted to the Regional Planning Authority for consideration and adjustment of the plan accordingly.”
