Fire Engineers Meet
About 40 representatives from fire brigades and the Christchurch business community attended the inaugural meeting of the Christchurch division of the Institution of Fire Engineers, New Zealand branch, at the Central Fire Station. The convener of the meeting, Mr J. L. Mitchell, said it was the institution’s aim to improve technical knowledge of fire-fighting among its members. An address on fires in aircraft hangars was given by Mr E. W. Pyle. A film on the subject was also shown. Officers elected were: chairman, Mr J. L. Mitchell: secre-tary-treasurer, Mr K. D. Wayman; committee, Messrs F. H. Garrett, D. N. Sinclair, M. 1 Burke, and S. Moss.
