RECORD
(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, April 21. An Auckland University student, George Wheeler, took an afterlunch cup of tea today. Then he drank more cups so quickly that four other students were kept busy filling the six cups used. In 30 minutes Wheeler swallowed 62 cups, which is claimed as a world record. The feat was to'publicise the capping celebrations on May 5. A crowd of students cheered Wheeler and seven rivals. Second was secondyear science student Roy Billings with 45 cups. The students said they understood the previous record was 26 cups in half-an-hour, “which is relatively leisurely going.”
