‘China’s Hostile Policy’
(N Z.P A.-Reuter —Copyright) DJAKARTA, April 21. The “Indonesian Herald,” regarded as an organ of the Foreign Ministry, today accused China of conducting , a systematic, world - wide campaign against Indonesia. Indonesia charged that China was involved in the abortive Communist coup attempt in Djakarta last Oceober. The “Herald” said: “We take this opportunity to appeal to the inner heart of the leadership in Peking.” “We hope that the men who are responsible for the destiny of 650 million people and the country which wields such great influence in world affairs will stop a moment and ponder the grave consequences of this hostile policy.” Death Sentence The special military tribunal trying paratroop Lieutenant Ngadimo for his part in the coup attempt last night sentenced him to death. Lieutenant Ngadimo was intelligence and operations officer of the 530 Paratroop Battalion which moved from Medium, East Java, to Djakarta to join the coup forces.
The military court has now imposed death sentences on three men who took part in the rising. General Nasution, has joined in a call for review of the cases of political prisoners of the old regime still in gaol. They include 24 former holders of high office in the State. Process of Law Official and unofficial newspapers say that they were wrongfully arrested on the-in-stigation of the J eposed First Deputy Premier and Foreign Minister, Dr. Subandrio, himself now in gaol. General Nasution, dismissed as Defence Minister by President Sukarno, and now deputy chief of the “Crush Malaysia Command” said to-
day that the Indonesian constitution called for due process of law when a person was arrested. The detainees in question had been arrested by presidential decree.
