ROTORUA FAVOURITE BEATEN

(N.Z. Press Association) ROTORUA. OtaMri Boy, which had previously performed well at Rotorua, showed courage to nose out the favourite. Sunset Fair, in the President's Handicap, first leg of the T.A.B. double at Rotorua on Saturday. The pacemakers, Dark Intrigue and Odeon, were done with outside the distance, and Sunset Fair moved out, pursued by Otakiri Boy. The strongly-finishing Captain Rebel was third. Then came Castle Dee, Calm Comet and Odeon. Big Dipper justified his favouritism for the Electric Handicap by leading all the way. On the home turn Big Dipper was five lengths clear of Admiral Donnington, but in the last furlong Tavern Time got within two lengths of him. Somerset Lodge, a close third, was a head in front of Admiral Donnington, which was followed by Corbassiere, Passionate and Khan Sahib. The meeting was held in fine weather. The track was good.
