“Not Time For Visit” (N.Z. Press Association) I AUCKLAND, April 10. His tour of South Vietnam, cut short by the civil turmoil [ there, Mr D. S. Thomson. [ member of Parliament for Stratford, arrived back in New Zealand today. Mr| Thomson said there was; grave concern at the present political situation throughout South Vietnam on the part of everyone from peasants to' the military Government “Everyone is very eager to] see a return to civil government as soon as pos-> sible,” he said. Mr Thomson said' he did! not think if would have been! practicable for the proposed! fact-finding tour by four New Zealand members of Parlia-[ ment to take place at pres ! ent.
‘The people are too deeply concerned with the political troubles, on top of the fight against the Viet Cong, for it to be fair for a party from New Zealand to take up their time,” he said. "There will, after all, be no difficulty in sending a Parliamentary group to Vietnam later on when everything has quietened down.”
