SOFTBALL TEAM FOR MEXICO
(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, April 10. The New Zealand men’s softball team to play in the world series in Mexico City in October was announced today, after trials at Trentham this week-end.
Commentators said the team has solid pitching, tight infield players, mediocre outfielders and mixed batting strength. The team is:— Pitchers: W. Massey (Hutt Valley), K. Herlihy (Wellington), G. Tattersfield (Otago). Catchers: T. Nunns (Hutt Valley), P. Priddey (Wellington). Shortstop: R. Smith (Hutt Valley). First base: D. Sorenson (Hutt Valley).
Second base: W. Henderson (Wellington). Third base: C. Phillips (Wanganui). Outfielders: A. Leslie (Hutt Valley), T. Bell (Hutt Valley), P. Buffalora (Auckland). Utility players: W. Baldwin (Hutt Valley), D. McKerchar (Wellington), P. Rodgers (Auckland). The captain has not yet been named. The team will be managed by Mr T. Voyle. of Waikato, and coached by Mr A. Whe- ■ lan, Auckland.
