FACTORIES’ FIRST AID
Regulations Gazetted (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, April 8. The Minister of Labour (Mr Shand) said today that firstaid practice in industry was not all it should be. He was announcing the Gazetting of the First Aid (Factories) Regulations, 1966, which require employers to provide and maintain minimum scales of first-aid facilities. In cases of factories employing more than 100 persons, a registered nurse or a certificated first-aider must be appointed in charge not later than two years after the regulations come into force. Mr Shand said that after a survey of first-aid facilities in factories in 1963-64, regulations had been found necessary to ensure a satisfactory standard was maintained.
