FLOOR AREAS
The Canterbury Education! Board’s annual return ofj floor space which details the additions and deductions during the year to the floor areas on which the grant for the maintenance of buildings is paid has been completed and sent to the Education Department. The total floorspace for maintenance grant purposes is 2,109,914 square feet made up as follows: Classrooms .. 1,318,984 Manual training centres .. 99,101 Assembly Halls .. 112,788 Dental clinics .. 58,704 Residences .. 447,056 Bus garages .. 43,315 Board’s offices .. 11,203 Board’s workshops 18,763
This is an increase of 70,604 square feet on the previous return. The increase is largely accounted for by the additional area of classrooms
(55,424 square feet) and assembly halls (9498 square feet).
