The observatory will cost £35,109. It is being financed by a £lO,OOO gift from the Mrs Edith Winstone-Blackwell estate and by public contributions.

Mr L. D. Nathan, chairman of the observatory trust established by the Auckland Astronomical Society, said today that building would begin in July. The telescope, which was being made in East Germany, would arrive in October. |
