■ First Leg Success

Trapper repeated his first night success when he won the Wanganui Handicap, first leg of the T.A.B. double at the Manawatu Trotting Club’s meeting at Palmerston North last night. The South Islander beat the favourite. Forward March, by two lengths, with Fair Song third. The second leg was won by the hot favourite. Port Boxer, which beat the outsider, Hanoverian, with Andy Earl third.

The Trapper-Port Boxer double paid £l6 3s for £l. The meeting was held in fine weather on a good track. Investments with the Totalisator Agency Board on the meeting amounted to £83,891, made up of win and place £33,511 and doubles £50,380. There was no corresponding meeting last year. No off-course substitute was required. Results:
