MISSIONARY WORK
Anglican Youth To Meet Young Anglicans from parishes throughout the Christchurch area are expected to attend the annual house party of the League of Youth, a branch of the Church Missionary Society, to be held at Tyndale House over Easter week-end. Up to 60 people between the ages of 15 and 30 years are expected to attend the week-end of Bible studies, addresses from those connected with missionary activity, and discussions as to what support can be given to mission work, said Mr R. J. Milne, publicity officer for the organising committee. Speakers at the house party will be Miss A. Neureuter, a missionary dispenser at the Sukkur Womens Hospital, Pakistan, at present in Christchurch on furlough: the Rev. H. F. Thomson, the general secretary of the Church Missionary Society in New Zealand: and the Rev. R. F. N. Thompson, of Christchurch. Mr Thompson and his wife will act as houseparents for the week-end. Mr Milne said. The house parties, which started as annual functions in 1950, “gave young Anglicans an opportunity to come to a deeper understanding of their faith, enjoy the fellowship of other like-minded young people, and to learn something of the involvement of the Church of England in overseas mission work,” said Mr Milne. Among projects undertaken by the Christchurch branch of the League of Youth this year is the raising of sufficient money to send an Indian to a theological college in India, he said. The amount is about £2OO.
