BALLOON CONTEST
Only 10 Of 700 Tags Returned f N Z. Press Association) BLENHEIM, April 5. Only 10 tags from 700 hydrogen-filled balloons, released in Blenheim on March 13 in a balloon contest, have been returned to the organisers, the Blenheim Jaycees. The deadline for returning the tags was April 3. Most of the tags were re-> turned from the Wairau Valiev. south-west of the release | point, but one came from Mangakino. A southerly wind was blowing when the balloons were I released, and they disanpeared in the direction of Kai-1 koura.
The Blenheim Jaycees are confirming the authenticity of the Mangakino claim, and hope to release the name of the competition winner soon.
Wairarapa Seat.—The sitting member, Mr H. V. Donald, has been chosen as National Party candidate for the Wairarapa.—(P.A.)
