Catchment Board Election
As a result of the Marlborough Catchment Board area having been extended to include the whole of the Kaikoura County, an election was held recently to elect two representatives from the county to the board. The successful candidates were: H. J Hewson, 824 votes, and J. C. W. Wilding, 655.
Voting for the unsuccessful candidates was; R. P. Pa-lmer, 431: R. H. Boyd, 314: G. R. Hamilton, 314; P. M. Harnett, 235.
Now that the Catchment Board area has been extended, the Kaikoura River Board, which previously covered a portion of the county only, will go out of existence.
