APPEALS FAIL
No Registration As Architects W.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, April 5. Two appeals under the Architects’ Act against refusal by the Architects’ Registration Tribunal to register the appellants as archi tects were quashed by Mr Justice McGregor in judgments delivered today in the Supreme Court. The appellants were Walter Orme, an architectural assistant, of Wellington, and Ernest Daly Price, a lecturer in architectural construction, of Wellington. “I am prepared, as I have previously stated, to give a liberal construction to the legislation, recognising that it is the last opportunity of backdoor entrance to the architectural profession by those who are sufficiently competent to practice as architects,” his Honour said. “On the other hand, as I have stated on numerous occasions. the Court is under a responsibility’ to the general public to ensure that those not sufficiently competent generally cannot hold themselves out as qualified regisitered architects.” The Court dismissed the, appeal by two Auckland architects. Robert Louis Roberts.; land John Care Brian, i It allowed the appeal by I Thomas Samuel Kane, of I 1 Auckland, an architect.
