Grants from lottery profits totalling £84,926 have been approved for immediate payment to 51 organisations by the welfare services distribution committee.
National organisations receiving grants for distribution among member branches are: The New Zealand FamilyPlanning Association £BOO, Intellectually Handicapped Children Association £25,000. Catholic Women’s League £lOOO. Cancer Society of New Zealand £6OOO, Birthright £5600, and National Marriage Guidance Council £17,450. Local organisations receiving grants include: Palmerston North mayoral relief fund £5OO, Napier mayoral relief fund £5OO, Wellington Free Ambulance Service £2000.. St. John Ambulance Association (Oamaru subcentre) £2OOO, Catholic Social Services (Auckland) £5OO. The Plunket Society (Dunedin headquarters) £2OOO, Wellington After-care Association £725, League for the Hard of Hearing (Auckland branch) £3OOO, Porirua Family
Centre £550, St. John Ambulance Association (Temuka sub-centre) £lOOO, St. John Ambulance (Cheviot subcentre) £750.
Citizens’ Day Nurseries (Wellington) £lOOO, Welfare Association St. John's Home
for Handicapped Children. Papatoetoe, £5OO, Auckland Disabled Persons’ Placement Board £5OO, St. John Ambulance (Napier sub-centre) £750, Auckland Sheltered Workshop and Training Centre £750.
