RECORD LIFTS
(N.Z. Press Association) m AUCKLAND. The Auckland middleweight lifter. J. Bolton, last night broke three records at the Empire Games invitation lifting trials held in Auckland.
Bolton totalled 7851 b, 151 b more than the previous record held by B. R. George (Auckland) and set in 1947. He also broke records in two of the three individual lifts with lifts of 3051 b and 3101 b. He twice broke the clean and jerk mark of 3041 b held by himself. In the snatch he lifted 235J1b. beating George's 18-year-old total of 2331 b.
D. C. Oliver, of Auckland, lifted his own New Zealand record for the heavy-weight press from 36411 b to 36711 b. He lifted 2951 b in the snatch, but withdrew from the contest because of a knee injury. The feather-weight, B. Cameron, of Auckland, broke his national snatch record of 20011 b when he lifted 2051 b
