Changes In Handicap Requirements Sought
Golfers with handicaps of four or less may be required by the Canterbury Provincial Golf Association to hand in 25 cards every six months. Two motions from the Waitikiri Golf Club were tabled before the annual meeting of the association last evening. That class A players be obliged to hand in 25 cards in each six-month period to retain a handicap in this class. The handicapper should have the right to increase the handicap of a player in the absence of the necessary number of cards or on evidence that all cards are not being handed in. That for handicaps 25-36 there should be a limit of 24 for open tournaments and club championships. The first motion will go forward to the management committee as a recommendation for consideration. Cromb. “Too many are in the North Stand and this costs the South island amateur too much to attend them.
