CUT IN CARS
Down By 10,000 (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, April 3. j The position of buying new cars “off the floor” had almost been reached, but with the 20 per cent cut in new car imports it would be many years before the present situation was reached again, the president of the New Zealand Retail Motor Trade Association (Mr 1. H. Curd) said yesterday. He said this in replying to questions put to him by the Automobile Association (Auckland). Had importing on the present basis carried on for another year, he thought the new car shortage would then have been overcome. Mr Curd said he thought that the cut would mean a reduction of 10,000 motorvehicles a year—or a cut of one car in five.
