BOYS’ BRIGADE AWARD
Queen’s Badge Presented The highest award in the Boys’ Brigade, the Queen s jadge, was presented to LanceCorporal Warren Farrelly at the annual enrolment service of the 3rd Christchurch Company in the Berwick street Presbyterian Church on Sunday morning by the company chaplain the Rev. K. A. Hadfield). Farrelly is a sixth-form pupil of the Mairehau High School. He has his school certificate and is attempting to gain university entrance this year. In addition to the Boys’ Brigade his main interests are Rugby and cricket. To qualify for the award, he has passed his campers.’ fireman's, first-aid, scripture knowledge, and swimming badges and certificates in expedition and wayfaring. Since joining the Boys’ Brigade five years ago he has attended 162 parades out of a possible 167. He also holds the Life Boy service badge, the one-year and three-year service badges and the long-service badge. He started in the movement as a Life Boy with the 3rd Christchurch team.
This brings the total of Queen’s badges awarded in Christchurch during the last 12 months to 22.
These boys, with all the other members of the Boys’ Brigade in New Zealand who have gained the badges during the last 12 months, are to attend a reception at Government House, Wellington, on May 21, when they will be presented with their certificates by the New Zealand patron, the Governor-General (Sir Bernard Fergusson).
