MEMORIAL WINDOW
£2400 Sought In Appeal
An appeal for £2400 for a memorial window in St. Paul’s Anglican Cathedral, Wellington, to the men and women of Commonwealth navies, naval reserves, volunteer reserves, and the Merchant Navy is being sponsored by Commander B. E. Turner, Second Member of the New Zealand Naval Board. “The Army and the Royal New Zealand Air Force have each provided a stained-glass window for the new Anglican Cathedral in Wellington. These take the form of memorials to their comrades who fell in World Wars I and IL” said Commander Turner. “I feel it would be appropriate if a third window dedicated to those who gave their lives at sea was presented to the cathedral,” he said. “To this end it is my intention to sponsor an appeal to raise funds to purchase a memorial window and to have it installed in the cathedral. Commander Turner said that anyone interested in contributing to the fund should write to him at the Navy Office, Wellington.
