Guests at the recent birthday of the Rolleston branch of Women’s Division of Federated Fanners included members from the provincial executive, Country Women's Institutes, sister branches, senior citizens and foundation members. The Avonhead Women's Guild provided humorous sketches and vocal items. The cake was cut by three foundation members. A highlight of the day was the appointment of Mrs S. Pearce as the first life member of the branch. Mrs I. Fraser, the provincial president, presented the trophies. Awards were: S. Pearce Challenge Cup and miniature for most points, Mrs I. Watson; Mrs I. Watson’s trophy and miniature for runner-up, Mrs P. Davison: E. E. Willetts memorial trophy for handwork and miniature, Mrs T. Anderson: Mrs S. Pearce challenge sandwich tray and miniature for cooking, Mrs Davison; Mrs I. Fraser’s trophy for most points in flowers, Mrs Waston. Attendance bulbs were presented to Mesdames J. Brosnahan, sen., J. Brosnahan, I.; Campbell and M. G. Wilson. 1 Darfield Officers elected at the annual meeting of the Darfield W.D.F.F. branch were: patron. Mrs G. C. Warren; president. Mrs J. Blamires; immediate past president, Mrs W. J. McKay: vice-presidents. Mesdames S. A. Marshall, T. Pascoe; secretary, Mrs B. Bevis: treasurer, Mrs R. Newton: committee. Mesdames B. Wall. F. Cridge, B. Perren, A. Gardener. Miss J. Gillanders: competition secretary. Mrs R. Burrows; blooms secretary. Mrs D. Rutledge: tea convener. Mrs D. Knowles: delegates to Canterbury executive. Mesdames Marshall, Pascoe. Bevis: delegate to Dominion conference. Mrs Blamires. Competition winners were: Kathleen Duncan Cup for most points, Mrs W. Wall; Rose Stott Cup and Margaret Reid tray, Mrs Wall; Joan Reid tray, Mrs Bevis: Woodhouse Cup, Mrs McKay.
Resignations.— The March meeting of the delegates' council of the Christchurch Free Kindergarten Association accepted the following resignations from directors of local kindergartens.—Mesdames J. Keys (Kaiapoi), N. Cranefield (Shirley), J. Greenwood (Mount Pleasant), Miss S. Weir (Hillmorten).
