AUST. 14 YACHTS IN DUTCHMAN RACES
(New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND. A powerful Australian entry of 14 yachts, headed by the current Australian champions, C. Whitworth and R. Miller, has entered the interDominion Flying Dutchman championship, which will start at Pakatoa Island on April 12.
A total of 36 yachts have entered, including 11 from New South Wales, two from Victoria and one from Queensland. Whitworth and Miller, of New South Wales, will be sailing their own yacht. Whitler. Whitworth won the first interDominion Flying Dutchman contest at Sydney in 1961. Miller, the forward hand, is a former international champion 18-footer skipper. Queensland will be represented by J. Hardy, the world 505 champion. Most of the top New Zealand yachtsmen will also compete. The prominent Canterbury yachtsmen .the Mander brothers, Peter and Graham, who have been competing consistently in the Flying Dutchman class since last season, will sail Gazelle, The most prominent of the
Auckland competitors are expected to be the Olympic Games champion, H. O ,L. Pedersen, G. Smale and R. Thompson. Pedersen, who won the recent Auckland championship, will be favourite for the event. He will sail Ondine.
