Hawke’s Bay Marksman “Top Gun” For N.Z.
Interest In the New Zealand trapshooting championships at Yaldhurst yesterday, centred on the performance of the NewZealand team competing in the Mackintosh international teams' match trophy.
This match, the results of which are kept secret until other Commonwealth teams have competed and posted their results to England, is of 100 targets a shooter, with the best 25 scores to count.
The “high gun” of the New Zealand team was C. F. Gunn, of Fermhiill, Hawke’s Bay. Although this is the first time he has been "high gun" of the team, he has taken the national double rise title for the last two years and will be defending this championship today. Runner-up to Gunn was J. McKenzie (Seaward Downs), who has held more championships than any other trapshooter tn New Zealand. The third top scorer was C. Darrall (Morrinsvitle), and fourth position shared by L. W. Kerr (Ranglora) and L. V. Evans (Hutt Valley).
The first two rounds of 25 targets each in the skeet championship were completed yesterday. Possibles were scored by:—„
