Queenstown’s Park
The first woman to be employed in the Tourist Department’s park at Queenstown since 1906, Miss Anne Quigley, recently took up duties. Miss Quigley, who is 22, gained her diploma of horticulture at Lincoln College two years ago. There will be ample scope for her work at Queenstown. This year the formal rose garden will be developed and the surrounds of the outdoor skating rink will be beautified when the rink is completed in the autumn. The grounds round the new tea kiosk will also be laid out. When the Tourist Hotel Corporation’s new hotel is built at Queenstown, there will also be the laying out and maintenance of the grounds.
