Good Trial By Palisade
"The Press" Special Service WELLINGTON. Palisade and Warfare galloped attractively at Trentham yesterday in preparation for the Awapunl Gold Cup and Manawatu Mile respectively. With few horses at the track only Miss Mod, Mangaroa, and Shiloko, besides Palisade and Warfare, worked fast. Working on the plough, Palisade <Holmes) started slowly at the mile and was joined by Warfare (Pledger) at the five furlongs. They increased speed to run the last half-mile in 48 2-5 sec, the last three furlongs in 35 2-ssec. Both were under strong holds at the. finish. Palisade has thrived since his Trentham wins and will be at his peak tomorrow.
Warefare, with the heavier weight, also galloped well and could be an outside prospect.
