VISITING HORSES
Seven Due Next Week
At least seven Auckland candidates for the New Zealand Metropolitan Trotting Club’s Easter meeting, which will open at Addington Raceway tomorrow week, will arrive in Christchurch on Tuesday or Wednesday morning. The successful Pukekohe trainer, R. Purdon. will bring Lonesome Valley, Swartz Pete and Superior Chief, all of which have shown outstanding form recently. Purdon also has Golcourt entered for the meeting, but he is unlikely to be brought south. Bobbinet is being brought south by K. F. Morrison, and E. C. Hair will bring the wellperformed trotter. Our Eileen. Great Adios will have Van Rush as a travelling companion on the trip south. Scotleigh is also expected to arrive at Addington early next week, and other northern horses are also booked to make the trip. The northern contingent will probably be the strongest numerically to attend a meeting at Addington Raceway for many years. As well as older horses, it is expected that the wellperformed two-year-olds, Wyambie and Miles Gentry, will attempt the New Zealand Welcome Stakes on Easter Saturday.
