CARGO SHIP GROUNDED
N.Z. Navy Ship Assisting (N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) SINGAPORE, March 24. The New Zealand Navy ship, Santon, last night relieved the Australian frigate, Derwent, from stand-by duty with a grounded cargo ship in the Celebes Sea. The Derwent sailed for Sabah with 32 members of the crew of the stranded ship, the 3000-ton Panamanian freighter, Carina, a Royal Navy spokesman said in Singapore today. Six of the Derwent’s crew and 10 men from the Carina remained aboard the freighter. The Santon has informed the Singapore Navy authorities that she would embark all remaining personnel from the Carina today, and take them to Sabah.
