IMMIGRATION TARGET
Printers Seek Increase
(From Our Own Reporter) QUEENSTOWN, March 22
New Zealand’s annual immigration target should be raised and efforts to bring migrants out vigorously increased, the council of the New Zealand Master Printers’ Federation agreed at the end of its conference in Queenstown today.
“Together with other employer organisations, we have been pressing the Government for an increased annual target of immigrants, not only from the United Kingdom, but also from other countries where skilled labour is available,” said the president, Mr L. C. Fulford, of Christchurch. “In spite of increased wages overseas, there are still men who want to come to New Zealand to work and settle. We must wake up before it is too late or we will lose this valuable skilled manpower to other countries,” he said.
