HORSES IN DOMAIN
Hillsborough Complaint
The turf in the Hillsborough Domain was being spoiled by the use of the area for the training of horses, said Mr H. Maelhopt at the annual neeting of the Hillsborough Residents’ Improvement Society. It was planned to fence off the domain this year, and put up a notice prohibiting horses, cars and motor-cycles from entering it, said the chairman (Mr P. J. Heal). If the domain was to be used for athletics it was essential that horses and vehicles were kept out, Mr Heal said.
The society was formed last year, taking the place of t’-o separate citizens’ organisations. and £6Bl 18s lOd was transferred from these organisations to the new society. The society’s total assets amounted to £645 19s lOd, the secretary (Mr R. T. Thompson) told the meeting. A sum of £5OO was being held in reserve as a contribution towards a suitable local amenity. he said. Officers elected were: chairman. Mr P. J. Heal; vicechairman. Mr D. J. Prebble; secretary. Mr R. T. Thompson: treasurer. Mrs J. Arm strong: committee, Mesdames M. J. Hibbs and M. Sayers, and Messrs J. Smith, J. Brennan. W. F. McGarick and R. C. Holland.
