Rise Shown In Later Survey
(N.Z. Press Association)
WELLINGTON, March 21. The Leader of the Opposition (Mr Kirk) was today criticised by the Prime Minister (Mr Holyoake) for his reported statement last week that work output per worker had dropped in some key industries—notably freezing works and leather tanning. "Mr Kirk appeared to have based his comments on a survey which analysed material up to 1959-60,” said Mr Hoiyoake.
Output per person had grown rapidly in recent years. In the four years ended 196364 the volume of output per person engaged increased at an average annual compound rate of 3.6 per cent. This compared with 2 per cent in the four years ending 195960. he said.
