‘R.S.A. Should Give Lead"

DANNEVIRKE, March 23. It was high time R.S.A gave a lead and sponsored some sporting activity on Anzac Day instead of waiting for the Government to take action, the Mayor of Dannevirke (Mr L. Appleton) said at the borough council’s meet ing this week. The council was consider ing an application to screen films in Dannevirke on Anzac Day.
The council refused the application because it considered the screenings would be for profit and not of a charitable nature.
Cr. S. Jane said the Dannevirke R.S.A. had no objections to sporting activities on the afternoon of Anzac Day. but had not made known its attitude to film showings.
