Dunlop Dispute Settled

(New Zealand Press Association)

WELLINGTON, March 23. The month-old dispute at the Upper Hutt factory of Dunlop (N.Z.), Ltd., was settled this evening.

“We are pleased a solution has been found and we are pleased with the settlement,” the secretary of the Wellington Rubber Workers’ Union (Mr A. J. Neary) said tonight. The factory works director, Mr A. A. Lawrencen, said the dispute had been settled “to the satisfaction of both parties.”

The terms of the settlement are:—

The two men dismissed have been reinstated from February 23;

The resolution of February 22 has been rescinded and work will be resumed under the terms of the bonus scheme in use before February; The union agrees to the timing of machines provided the company gives an undertaking in writing that the timing of machines will not in any way be related to the output of individual workers or groups of workers, or be used for calculating incentive schemes now or in the future.
