GAMES ASPIRANT. —The promising 18-year-old Canterbury shot and discus exponent, Miss D. Charteris, who must still be regarded as a strong candidate for the New Zealand team to the Empire Games, in spite of Mrs V. I. Young’s return to competition. She was runner-up to Mrs Young in both the Canterbury and New Zealand shot and discus championships and could easily win a medal at Jamaica if she could repeat her best performances there.
