Fine Quality Wool Prices Dearer

(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON. March 17. Fine quality wool was dearer at the sixth Wellington wool sale today. Prices for all classes were firmer on values at the Invercargill sale, says the official report.

There was a large offering, the 26,000 bales, including ewe fleece, lambs’ wool and some piece oddments. Much of the fleece wool showed yellowed effects of bad weather before shearing, and some lines of lambs’ wool were spoiled through poor sorting in the sheds. Competition was well spread, Continental buyers dominating the market. Local mills and Japanese concerns bidded in earnest to fill their requirements, while Bradford mills sought top-making types. Crossbred fleece was especially sought, and prices for this showed substantial gains. Range Of Prices The official range of prices is:—
