CHOPPING CARNIVAL
Veteran’s Two Good Wins
Fields of 28 competitors in each of the six events faced the starter in an all-day carnival organised by the Canterbury Axemen’s Association at Rugby Park, Kaiapoi, on Sunday. About 40 axemen came from the West Coast, Blenheim and South Canterbury. The secretary (Mr P. Southerwood) said it was intended to make the Kaiapoi carnival an annual event as considerable support had been received from businessmen, park trustees and the Kaiapoi Borough Council.
