Fast Run By Killadar
"The Press" Special Service INVERCARGILL.
Killadar (Garrison Hanover — Fair Annette) ran the fastest public trial ever by a two-year-old in Southland at Winton on Monday, where conditions were ideal for a matinee meeting conducted by the Southland Trotting Owners, Trainers and Breeders’ Association.
Only slightly less impressive was Master Kent (Garrison Hanover—Maidstone), which finished second, beaten half a length, to him over a mile in 2min 12sec, the last half in a brilliant lmin 3 4-ssec. Both are candidates for the New Zealand Kindergarten Stakes at Invercargill next Saturday. Killadar and Master Kent had the finish of their heat of the two-year-old parade to themselves, the third horse Emulate (Light Brigade—Va Vite) being 18 lengths back. Killadar made his debut at Forbury Park last month, when he ran the unbeaten Holy Hal to a short neck.
