To Stand Again
Mr A. H. Nordmeyer, former Leader of the Opposition, said last night he would stand again for Parliament but added that if he was re-elected by his Island Bay electorate he would retire from politics after the three-year term. “I can confirm that I have indicated to the Island Bay branch that 1 am willing to stand again,” he said. Mr Nordmeyer, aged 64, was displaced as Leader by Mr N. E. Kirk last December. In the last General Election in the Island Bay constituency, Mr Nordmeyer polled 2388 votes more than his opponent, Mr F. F. Curry (National). —(P.A.)
