Trumpet By Computer
Trumpet sounds synthesised on a computer that are indistinguishable from those of the actual instrument have been produced by Bell Telephone Laboratories. Although this is not the first time musical sounds have been produced artificially, brass timbre has been in the past particularly difficult to simulate so that this achievement is regarded as a major break-through for it implies that the computer itself could eventually be used as a “prime musical instrument.”
