U.S. VICE-PRESIDENT Uncertainty As To Date Of Arrival

(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON. February 10. The Prime Minister. Mr Holyoake, said tonight it was unlikely that the Vice President of the United States, Mr 1 lubert Humphrey, would arrive for talks in New Zealand at the end of next week.

Reports had suggested Mr Humphrey might visit New Zealand next Thursday—but Mr Holyoake said tonight this could clash with the arrival next Friday of the Prime Minister of Thailand, Field Marshal Thanom Kittikachorn.

A United States Information Service spokesman in Wellington said this afternoon, however, that Mr Humphrey would visit New Zealand next week The Vice-President would spend part of a day in New Zealand, most likely on Thursday. The day was still uncertain, however, he said. Questioned after a meeting of the Government caucus this afternoon, the Prime Minister said he was not prepared to say when Mr Humphrey would arrive in New Zealand. Earlier today, however, Mr Holyoake said that he had been advised of a date most

likely suitable for the VicePresident’s visit. Regarding the issues likely to be raised during Mr Humphrey’s brief visit, the Prime Minister said: “He has not indicated the questions he wants to discuss—but there are many points of interest."
