Stripping Of Royalist (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, February 9. The stripping of the cruiser Royalist before tenders are called for the ship as scrap is expected to begin next month. The cruiser will officially pay off early next month. It is understood that authority for the scrapping of the 'cruiser has been obtained ■ from the Admiralty, and that I the Naval Board in WellingI ton will announce the decij sion to send the Royalist to the scrap yard within the next few weeks. All useful equipment, some of which dates back to the Royalist’s predecessor in the R.N.Z.N., the Black Prince, will be salvaged from the cruiser in the Devonport Naval Dockyard for possible use in other ships and for training purposes. The Royalist’s last sea trip will probably be at the end of a hawser towing her to Hong Kong, the final resting place of previous scrapped R.N.Z.N. ships.
