Better Wool Firm At Invercargill

(New Zealand Press Association)

INVERCARGILL, January 28. Better style wools were generally firm, poorer style fleece and skirtings inclined in buyers’ favour, while lambs wool was slightly dearer at the Invercargill wool sale today.

Continental buyers provided the main competition with limited support from other sections.

There was an offering of 29,000 bales, according to the official report. It was mainly ewe fleece and the usual oddments together with a small proportion of woolly and shorn hogget wools and a few lots of early shorn lambs wool.

Although generally of good colour, the offering was seriously affected by the adverse winter.

The bulk of the fleece wool offered showed tenderness to a marked degree and carrying a higher proportion of short stapled wools than in previous seasons.

In many cases oddments showed water stain and carried condition. The lambs wool offered was not particularly attractive. It was short in staple and carried light dust. Prompt date for the sale is February 15. Price Range The range of prices was: d. d.
