EXTENSION TO SCHOOL
Council Gives Approval Proposals to build a secondary department at Middleton Grange School, Upper Riccarton, were approved as a conditional use in a residential zone by the Waimairi County Council on Thursday evening. No objections had been received to the amended plans and specifications required by the council, said the Clerk (Mr K. Maclachlan). Objection bad been made by Lieutenant Colonel R. A. Tinker, but as the school had supplied him with soil for filling, the objection had been withdrawn. No objections having been received, the council also approved a specified planning departure to allow the McLean Institute to extend its Holly Lea home with another dormitory, at 123 Fendalton road. Closing Roads.— -After a discussion in committee, it was reported that it had been decided to hold a public meeting on February 15 to hear objections to the council’s proposals to close roads in the City Council plantation area at Spencerville. Loans.— Special orders were confirmed to raise an £11,600 Middleton riding works loan, and the £24,000 loan to meet the county’s share of the joint vehicle testing station for Waimairi, Paparua and Riccarton.
